Nettle Web Details

More detail shots of nettle web. I will not have time to finish the installation so I will leave the web as a work in progress to decay among the summer growth.

Prairie Installation. Work in Progress.

I began this work on Tuesday and hope to complete it before I leave Ragdale. The work is made of knitted and free form woven nettle twine which connects discarded building waste with growing trees on the prairie. In the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, The Wild Swans, the princess knitted nettle shirts which when worn by her brothers transformed them from swans into princesses.
The work will be left to decompose in the prairie and refers to the process by which rotting vegetable waste returns to the soil to promote new growth.

New Work

I feel like my work here is finally coming together. I made this work on a sheet of Arches water colour paper and want to make more. I feel that my small scale experiments have come to fruition and now I only have a little over a week here I want to make lots more.

Viewed Together

I started to put the new works on the wall. Viewed together they are perhaps a little too pretty.
